On Saturday, they will report to the Bradenton Herald office for their actual interview, which will only be a 10-minute formal interview. Golden Herald is an award sponsored by the Bradenton Herald that honors outstanding Manatee County high school seniors for their service to schools and community.

The Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) club has been working very hard to organize events that raise awareness of the effects of tobacco. “Sandblast” is an event run by SWAT that advocates against drug abuse and gives out statistics to warn students of the dangers of consuming drugs and tobacco.

Last year, over 300 hundred students pledged and the Student Government Association (SGA) hopes their Students Above the Influence (SAI) numbers grow this year. Students are singing a pledge in the school cafeteria to show their commitment against the use of substances while driving.

Morgan Mulholland won first, Mason Rademaker won second and Jenna Sivek won third. These students will not only have their work displayed in the lobby of the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, but also will receive special event recognition on Dec. 1 and will earn cash prizes.

Senior Millie Harvey said, “I am going to wear my ugly sweater on Thursday so I can participate in the fun. I think ugly sweater day is a fun way to get students relaxed before the stress of exam week.”.
